Mastering New Job Interview Techniques

Episode 198 - Mastering New Job Interview Techniques: From Handshakes to Chatbots
Play Video

Since the pandemic, job interviews have undergone a profound transformation, challenging long-standing beliefs and practices. My clients suddenly found themselves cut off from the opportunities that had propelled their careers forward. Face-to-face networking opportunities have significantly reduced, and traditional rules or recruitment, such as the importance of the perfect handshake, have become obsolete.

As a career coach specializing in job-hunting, I face the rapidly evolving recruitment landscape alongside my clients, learning from their experiences in real time. I’m also lucky that recruiters generously share with me insights on what organizations are looking for in candidates, as hiring processes have changed considerably in the past few years.

The job interviews my clients face today are so different from the past. C-level candidates were asked to submit direct-to-camera videos, and professionals at the managerial level now have chatbots and bot call interviews. Even the formats for face-to-face interviews changed. With Zoom and Teams, voice projection and expressive facial gestures became crucial skills to master in this altered environment.

Three years post-pandemic, professionals are still largely unaware of these new job interview practices and how to prepare for them. So I am revisiting this episode from our archives, which is dedicated to educating and supporting job seekers, shedding light on the job interview landscape you will encounter now and in the near future.

In this episode, we delve into the diverse post-pandemic job interview formats that have emerged, from direct-to-camera to chatbot intendemic. Whether you’re a seasoned executive or a fresh graduate, understanding these changes is essential to excel in today’s job market.
